MR. STEVE BAIRD - Director of Band, Canyon Intermediate School (2008 to 2011)
Mr. Baird was a graduate of Canyon High School where he was an All-State French horn player. He attended TCU and WTSU and held a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education.
His teaching career began in Edinburg, TX where he taught high brass and Junior High Band. He then taught for 11 years at Tulia, Texas as Junior High director for 5 years and High School director for 6 years. He left the teaching profession to pursue private business as an education specialist for a music company for 10 years.
He joined the Canyon band staff in 2008 as Intermediate School director and assistant Junior High director.
Mr. Baird passed away suddenly on January 3, 2011 and a portion of the 2011 Marching Band Program is dedicated in his honor.
Mr. Baird was married to Katherine and had one grown son, Travis, and a new granddaughter named Elliot. His hobbies were camping, trail riding, hunting, and restoring his old home.
Steve will be missed by all of us.
